Kirsten Lee by pixiekat Kirsten Lee by pixiekat
A drawing of my eldest niece, Kirsten. Age 6.

My mother is forcing me to stop being a lazy bum by having me draw my brother's three children: Kirsten, Ryan, and Emma. I have to get all three finished by tomorrow night so she can give them to Craig (my brother) as a sort of belated birthday/Christmas present. Let's see how well this goes, shall we? :XD:

I used a mechanical pencil and a regular ole #2, plus a tissue, three q-tips, and a paintbrush. Took 4 hours, with one break that was probably longer than it should have been.

It's not my best drawing ever, but I'm content with it. The hair bothers me a lot, among other things, but I'll survive. :D

I hope you don't mind that I ask, but where did you learn to use photoshop so well? lol And also how do you color in your pieces using photoshop?

I actually haven't been using Photoshop for very long (little less than two years) and I think the only reason I can do anything with it is because I've had years of experience using Paint Shop Pro 6 to make pixel dolls and I've read (and watched!) about a billion tutorials. =P

As for how I color my pieces... well it varies greatly, since I'm constantly experimenting. :XD: Mostly, I use the technique described in this tutorial: [link] and very recently, I've been trying to paint things in the way this tutorial shows: [link]

Other tutorials I regularly use are collected here: [link] They've all helped me immensely in one way or another. :) I wouldn't know what the heck I was doing had I not read them.
